Wondering what the difference is between camping, tented lodges and lodges on safari? Or are you still unsure? Safari prices vary widely depending on the type of accommodation you choose. This article will explain in detail the advantages of each of these solutions and help you make your decision for the trip of a lifetime!
Depending on your budget and your desires, there are several types of accommodation available in Tanzania:
- Camping inside or outside national parks
- Tented lodges in national parks
- Lodges outside national parks

1) ACCOMMODATION: CAMPING SAFARIS ARE THE MOST ECONOMICAL SOLUTION!
Accompanied by your guide and your very own private chef, set off on a camping safari adventure in Tanzania!
Two types of camping are available:
-> Inside national parks such as Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro:
You'll sleep on the savannah in a special area, in a tent equipped with cots and thick mattresses, pillows and comforters supplied by us. Everything is thoroughly washed between each safari. Enjoy a wilderness adventure - you're in the animal kingdom! At night, open your ears wide! Listen to the lion roar and the hyena cry.
Your chef will set up your table and chairs, and prepare restaurant-style meals. Showers and toilets are provided in communal buildings.
In the Serengeti, from a distance point of view, this is the only camping solution available to you. You won't be able to sleep outside the park.

-> Outside national parks ( Manyara region )
Camping outside national parks has the advantage of being strategically located. After a safari in TarangireWhen we head off to Serengeti National Park the following day, it's a good idea to sleep outside the park to save time on the road. You'll sleep in a corner of nature, amidst a lush garden, in a specially designated area, in a tent equipped with cots and thick mattresses, pillows and comforters provided by us. Everything is thoroughly washed between each safari. Enjoy a dip in the pool!
In the campsite restaurant, your chef will set your place settings and prepare your meals, so you'll feel just like you're in a restaurant. Showers and toilets are provided in communal buildings.

2) ACCOMMODATION: TENTED LODGE SAFARI: THIS IS THE LODGE INSIDE THE NATIONAL PARKS.
As it is forbidden to build permanent lodges in national parks, these lodges respect the environment and the animals around them. Although they can be completely dismantled, they are fully furnished and equipped with mosquito nets, a real bathroom and private toilets. These human-scale lodges generally offer 10 or 12 rooms. Meals are served in the lodge's restaurant, located not far from the rooms for your safety.
Far more expensive than camping, these lodges are available in several categories:
- Comfort ***
- Mid-range ****
- High-end *****

2) ACCOMMODATION: LODGE SAFARI: THIS IS THE LODGE OUTSIDE THE NATIONAL PARKS.
Located outside national parks, lodges are built of concrete, wood or stone. They often feature a swimming pool. They have their own restaurant.
Far more expensive than camping, but often less expensive than Tented Lodges because they are located outside national parks, these lodges are available in several categories:
- Comfort ***
- Mid-range ****
- High-end *****
